One of Spencer's favorite things to do is to "Go see the sheep." Ironically, he really pays very little attention to the sheep. Dirt and rocks are much more exciting.
James enjoys a good trip to the sheep as well.
Here is a video of Spencer sliding down the sand dune. I don't know if you can hear it, but when he is throwing the rocks into the sheep pen he is saying "Here you go!" I am not sure that the sheep are as excited about rocks as Spencer is.

A Little More Action
We had to record Spencer dancing to his new favorite song "A Little Less Conversation a Little More Action" by Elvis Presley.

Painting
Spencer loves painting, and I love this kind of painting with just water and no mess. Today we were painting and Spencer would tell me to paint something and then he would add a line to it and say "It's a balloon." Here he is adding a line to a "guy" and he calls it a "guy balloon."

James' first laugh
On Friday James laughed for the first time. It is a Navajo tradition that the person who makes a baby laugh first has to cook a huge meal for the family ( and in Navajo that means brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and any relation). They usually kill a sheep or goat for the occasion. We half-way adopted the tradition- but we just had our neighbors over for dessert. We want to keep up the tradition with our other kids too- but we might just do root beer floats next time!
Monument Valley Storm
On Friday we had a big rainstorm. Spencer loved running and playing in the raindrops. We didn't get any pictures of him covered in mud, but we did get some cool pictures of the storm. We learned that the big white funnel thing is actually hail- it is moving up and down through the atmosphere, which makes it really cold. It was a pretty neat sight!

Singing Spencer
I kind of like to think of my blog as a family photo journal. That's why I post so many things that may seem trivial- but I want to remember. This is one of those things. On Sunday Spencer was trying to sing along with the song in church. He didn't know the words, so he was pretty much just making a semi-musical yelling noise. So his song went like this "Ya, Ya, Ya, Little Einstein's." I guess those words go well in any song.
Someday I will laugh at this
Last night I went to bed early (well, as early as James would let me) to see if I could get a good night sleep to get over this cold. I woke up to this super loud sound that sounded like a crying child. It didn't really sound like on of my children- but I checked on them just to be sure. Then I went into the living room and the sound was really loud, It turns out there were about 4 goats that had somehow found their way into our backyard (over the retaining wall) and were stuck. They were so loud that they woke up our neighbors that live in the next building down- and their kids. We saw him outside trying to herd the stupid animals out of the gate. Devon got dressed and went to help him. Where else but Monument Valley do goats cross the highway and wake you up when they get stuck in your backyard?

Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam
Spencer has just started singing along with songs that we sing, this is one of his favorites!
Grasshoppers
We don't have nearly as many grasshoppers this year as we did last year, so when Spencer finds one he is pretty excited. He saw one in the grass this morning. He picked a dandelion and said "Here you go grasshopper." He kept talking to the grasshopper for like 20 minutes. It would hop and he would say "Where are you going?" He kept trying to give it flowers and he would say "Here's a flower, it will make you feel better." Or "Grasshopper, it's flower time." I don't remember all that he said- but it was pretty funny.
The battle of New Orleans
Lately Devon has been turning music on for Spencer on the computer. He decided to try one of his childhood favorites, "The Battle of New Orleans" and it was an instant hit. Spencer got up and started dancing right away.
