Thanksgiving

The day before Thanksgiving we went to cut down our Christmas tree.  It was pretty snowy in the mountain, so we couldn't make it up to where we have cut trees in the past.  We actually ended up finding two good trees at the bottom of the mountain.  Devon had to wear Spencer's hat because he forgot his.  Our tree was small, but cute and fit our apartment perfectly.
This was a our first Thanksgiving without any family, but we still had a fun time.  3 families from the teacher housing got together for dinner, which was great because I only had to make 3 things instead of like 10.  The best part was that the Carlson's who organized the party used to work at Frontier Pies, so they made beautiful and delicious pies, and tons of them- so we got to take home 2 pies without even having to bake them.  Too bad i didn't take pictures, they were perfect.
One Friday we tried a new hike called Monarch Cave.  We got pretty lost and ended up on top of a cliff looking down on the trail we wanted to be on.  We found our way down and got on the right trail to this ruin.  It was a pretty canyon, but not my favorite hike ever.

Devon got to Carrie a wiggling Carrie, she better learn to hike soon!

Hunt's Mesa

Devon and the boys had an amazing opportunity in the beginning of November.  They were able to hike "Hunt's Mesa" a hike that you can only go on with a guide, and usually costs at least $150 per person.  A girl that works at the school and her brother who also works at the school took a group of school employees.  I really wanted to go, but Leah is so tiny and she doesn't like breathing in the wind.  It was probably better that we didn't go since it turned out to be a long hard hike, but it was amazing.  James and Spencer are realy troopers.

They had to climb up rope ladders and footholds, even Spencer got a little nervous, which takes a lot.
James was happy to have a hiking partner.  My neighbor later told me how impressed she was with James hiking so far.

The view from the top- pretty amazing

They also did some other back country touring that you have to have a guide for and pay a lot of money.
Spencer had to roll down the sand dune of course.
I don't think I could ever get tired of the views here.

November

Just a few random pictures from November.  One day it was a little chilly, but I made the kids go outside.  They actually ended up having a good time pulling each other in the wagon and making their own "houses."

I needed an adventure so we took someone who just moved here to the boulder field by the slot canyon.  We had a lot of fun climbing around on the rocks it felt great to be adventuring again. i felt really bad though because the girl that we took brought her husband back ad few days later and he broke his ankle really badly and will not be hiking for some time.
We are glad to have Kelsey back to join our adventures.

This dress was a gift to Carrie when she was a baby.  It is so puffy it is hard to tell if you are holding a baby or a big ball of poof, but it looks cute.
