Antelope Canyon

School is over for the summer! That year went fast! For the end of the year staff trip we went to Antelope Canyon. it is an "inverted slot canyon." It is wider at the bottom than at the top- but it's still pretty narrow. It was amazing!

It was kind of like a cave with an opening at the top- so the sand would some in with the wind- it was raining sand.

Rocks and dirt- good stuff for boys.
At certain times in the day the sun come in just right to make beams of light. We caught these on the way out. I kept thinking of Grandpa Gosney because of the rocks, and Devon though tof Elizabeth for the photography, so I guess it was a great place for everyone!

the boys

A little family scrapbooking of things I love to see my boys doing.
James will not let me sweep by myself, but i though it was really cute when they tried to sweep together. What great helpers?
Spencer said "Can you take a picture of me eating this?" Noodles are fun.
Can you tell who chose Spencer's clothes today? Usually Sunday clothes are a huge battle, so I was happy to let him wear a tie, even if it didn't really match.
James loves to hug stuffed animals, and people.

Spencer loves drawing. He is usually drawing some kind of dinosaur (not a big surprise since is is obsessed with dinosaurs right now).
James needed to add a hat to his Sunday attire. He had to take out every hat and shoe in the process.

You should watch "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" then watch Spencer dance to the theme song- it's pretty funny.

Spencer is 4!

Spencer turned 4 years old yesterday! I cannot believe he is that old! his birthday was on Saturday, so we let him open his family presents in the morning with Devon there.
He was so excited for each present! Life is good when you are the star of the party!

He and James really enjoyed the packing material in Grandma Gosney's present.
Here is Spencer painting the Boble head robot he got in his new art box from Grandma and Grandpa Gosney, James had to paint too.
Spencer got roller skates from Grandma and Grandpa Coombs. I think he expected them to be self propelled or something, but he loved it once he got the hang of it.
We had planed a Super-hero part for a while (you have to plan way in advance here, can't just run to Walmart and throw things together.) Anyway, in the past few weeks Spencer has become obsessed with dinosaurs. So we combined and did a Super-hero Dino party. Everyone got capes made from vinyl tablecloths- they actually turn out pretty good.
First we did a "Dion walk." Like a cake walk only with dinosaurs to walk on and dino music. It was pretty funny because there were not any extra dinos, and the kids would get all bunched up, then run to an empty one when the music stopped. James loved the music.

Then we did a super-hero mission to rescue stuffed animals. Some of the dad were the villains. At the first villain they had to throw bean bags into a target to free the animal.
At the second villain they had to solve dinosaur riddles.

At the last villain they had to name super-heros. When the missions were complete they earned cake!
One dinosaur and one super-hero cake- there were a lot of people there.
Lots of people means lots of presents, and Spencer loved it!
Spencer loved his party so much he said "I want to have the same party next year!" It was good- but we are not doing that big of a party next year.

Jamesy

We love our little Jamesy. He likes to wear hats now, but he always pulls them down over his eyes. If you fix it, he pulls it back down, so we just let it be. He always wants to be big, and just like Spencer. Lately Spencer has been asking "Can I play with James?" It just melts my heart- it's so nice to have a brother to always play with.

James is sooo good at giving hugs. Whenever he see mommy or daddy (or the neighbor girls) he runs up to give us a hug.

Scottsdale Conference

In the end of April Devon went to a conference in Scottsdale. The boys and I went along for the free vacation. We stayed in a nice hotel suite- so we didn't even have to sleep in the same room as our kids. Their breakfast was cooked to order- kind of cafeteria style- but amazing compared to the normal doughnut and muffin affairs at the cheap hotels we stay at. Also, there were 2 pools, and hot temperatures, so we went swimming twice a day.
My friend also came with her kids. We went to this train park. Here we are riding on the little train.
They also had a carousel. James was not too sure about this- I guess he's not ready for Disneyland yet!

There were some fun playgrounds there too. I thought these misting things were neat-I wish we had some of those in the heat of summer, and it was the heat of summer. Close to 100.
The first night we tried to go to a Diners, Drive-in's and Dives place, but the freeway was closed for like 5 miles, and our GPS had the same idea as everyone else to get around it, so after a few hours of driving around we settled for Mimi's- the kids probably liked that more anyway- free bread and cheerios!
The next night though we did go to a triple D place. It was called Guseppi's. A little classy for 5 kids (ours and our friends) but we ate outside. Devon got a meatball sandwich. It was like a loaf of french bread! The meatballs were delicious.
Julie got the meal actually featured on the show- huge also, but she said it was good.
I got homemade pasta- soooo yummy!
Spencer, as usual, tried some new and crazy food. We got some brushetta which I like, but I didn't choose so well on the toppings. Spencer loved the chicken liver and blue cheese ones- yuck!

The boys getting ready for swimming. Spencer loved these goggles, but they left a mark for a few hours!
We had a great vacation! Oh yeah, and Devon learned a lot too!

Easter

We had an egg hunt with the families here the week before Easter. Both of the boys really enjoyed it.
Spencer chose the path less traveled and went to the playground first- he found a ton of eggs. He was nice to share. He just wanted to find the most, he was fine with giving them away after.

The Easter bunny brought a basketball hoop. He will probably be cutting down on presents in the future, but I've been really wanting to get one of these for the boys- and they love it.
