After the rain

Last week it rained almost everyday. Sometimes it rained a lot. The storm created many new places to play, like this huge mud puddle- great for throwing things into!
This was really cool. The rain made a canyon right through this dune. Behind the dune was a wash, and it just broke right though and made a canyon taller than Spencer.
The next day we had another big storm. James found a huge mud puddle, and here is the result.

Here is Spencer standing in the canyon
And the "rivers" it made down to the parking lot (which was covered in mud)
This is the wash behind the fence.
We really enjoyed the rain and the cooler weather. It has warmed right back up again, but it was nice while it lasted!
Here is Spencer explaining how the canyon was formed. Science in action!

Jump-o-lene

Last year I bought a Jump-o-lene, a big inside jumping thing. It has been great for getting the boys energy out when the weather doesn't cooperate. With Devon's help they learned it is fun upside down too!

boys and bikes

Our boys love to ride bikes. We ride at least a few times a day, it's nice to have a ton of sidewalks to ride on not near a street.

James finally got his own bike. I stopped hoping that Spencer would move on to the bigger bike, so when we found one at the flea market last week we were so excited. It was pink- but that's what spray paint is for- and he loves having his own. Ironically it's bigger than Spencer's- but lots of fun!

Teddy Bear clinic

The medical clinic here does a "teddy bear clinic" each year. I always miss it, but this year we made it. The boys were very excited to get in.
They each got a free bear, then took it through the clinic to do different things. Here they are getting casts on their bears. They even took an x-ray!

You need to get some exercise to be healthy.
We got so much stuff, hats to keep the sun off, books, food, coloring books, Frisbees- I guess we shouldn't miss it again!

scorpion!

Only one picture, but this deserves its own post. I came back from walking one morning and saw this on the floor INSIDE OUR HOUSE! I thought from a distance it was a dead lace-wing, so I almost picked it up with my fingers. Thankfully i stopped just in time. Devon had to catch it for pictures, but I couldn't sleep much for thinking about it that night!

My birthday

It was my birthday a few weeks ago 9in case any of you forgot). It was a fun day. All day Spencer kept saying "Happy birthday Mommy!" Devon and I got to go on a date, and we ate chocolate cake and presents- so it was great.

Round 2

Spencer is so creative. He made this card for me during naptime. Do you like how he spelled "Mommy" (Moe). He is getting pretty good at writing.
James loves to play in the puddles, thankfully we've had a lot of rain.
Daddy and James. The boys have loved having daddy to themselves during library time again!
Spencer monster
More Spencer artwork
This has been the year of rainbows. I have never seen so many rainbows!

I have been waking up to go walking in the morning, and this is what it looks like. It's not so hard to get up early when you are greeted by this!
James has learned a lot of animal sounds, and his voice is so cute!

Spencer loves to ride his bike. Often he just rides around and around in circles. Devon did the same thing on a scooter when he was little.

Catching up- round 1

I can't believe it has been so long since I updated our blog! i know you really missed us, so without further ado- here's a little catching up.
Aren't those clouds amazing?

The first weekend after school startedthey closed the school to refinish the floors, so we took advantage and bug-bombed our apartment (which was pointless) and visited the Navajo National Monument. Spencer and James had some classic TP roll binoculars

They had a little museum, these are the corn grinding stones
there is a 1/2 mile trail to a view of the ruins. It takes a long time to walk 1/2 mile with a 2 and 4 year old, but it was fun.

Family reunion shirts!
Ready for church!
Taking a little down-time.
